Handcrafted ice cream, poured with intention — and coffee that remembers your name.
Harts General Store and Creamery is where small-batch dairy craft meets community gathering. Every scoop tells a story; every cup is an invitation to slow down.
Rooted in the Blue Ridge, crafted with care.
Harts General Store and Creamery began with a simple conviction: that the best ice cream comes from patience, quality ingredients, and a community that values the handmade. We started as a weekend stall at the Lenoir farmers market, churning small batches from local dairy, and grew into a destination where neighbors gather long after the last scoop is served.
Our creamery produces ice cream and frozen custard in small batches, using recipes developed over years of refinement. We source dairy from regional farms and build our flavor lineup around seasonal produce, local honey, and ingredients that tell the story of this place. The café side — espresso drinks, cold brew, and light fare — was born from the same impulse: to create a space where good food and good company are never an afterthought.

Flavors that change with the season
Our rotating lineup reflects what's fresh, local, and worth celebrating. Some classics stay year-round — the rest earn their place on the board.
Vanilla Bean
Madagascar vanilla steeped into our base — rich, floral, and the benchmark every other flavor answers to.
Dark Chocolate
Cocoa from a single-source mill in Ecuador, balanced with a touch of sea salt. Deep without being heavy.
Strawberry
Summer strawberries from nearby orchards, folded into cream at peak ripeness. Only available June through August.
Wildflower Honey
Raw honey from Lenoir apiaries, swirled with a honeycomb crunch. Sweet, but restrained — like the mountains themselves.
Maple Walnut
Vermont-grade maple syrup and locally toasted walnuts. An autumn flavor that lingers into winter.
Peppermint Chocolate
Crushed candy cane ribbons through chocolate base. A holiday tradition we're proud to return to every December.
Our flavors rotate weekly based on availability. Call ahead to check what's fresh today.
Coffee, done properly
Our espresso program is built around single-origin beans, roasted locally in the Piedmont. Every drink — from a straightforward drip to a lavender honey latte — is pulled to order and treated with the same attention we give our ice cream.

A place that feels like home
We drive from Morganton just for the honey ice cream. Nothing else in the area comes close — you can taste the difference that small-batch makes.
The café is our Saturday morning ritual. Great coffee, friendly faces, and the staff actually remembers what we like. That's rare.
Brought my kids here after school and they were thrilled — both the ice cream and the space. It's become our weekend tradition.
